Dr. Brent, as he is called by the children who visit the office, lives in Prior Lake with his wife, Lisa. They have three grown daughters: Greta, Ava, and Ella. Dr. Brent grew up in Eagan and graduated from Rosemount High School in 1986. He then attended St. Olaf College. When he wasn’t studying or playing football, he enjoyed mentoring and helping local troubled middle schoolers with their problems.
Education and Professional Activities
In 1990, after graduating with a B.A. in biology, he continued his education at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. Dr. Brent spent three rewarding months of his dental training in Nijmegen, Holland, participating in the clinical dental exchange program. After graduating from dental school in 1994, Dr. Brent knew pediatric dentistry was his future. In 1997, he completed his residency in the division of pediatric dentistry at the University of Minnesota, with a master’s degree in pediatric dentistry. Dr. Brent’s thesis on the “Incidence of Oralfacial Injuries in High School Sports” was published in the Journal of Public Health Dentistry in the fall of 1998.
Dr. Brent has been with Children's Dental Care since 1997, and a partner since 1999. He enjoys covering emergencies for the Minnesota State High School League, and assisting young at-risk athletes with mouthguard use.
Beyond the Office
Dr. Brent enjoys running, biking, and family time at the cabin.
A Message from Dr. Brent:
After 30 wonderful years practicing with CDC, I have made the decision to quietly ease into retirement.
I have been incredibly blessed and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside the exceptional families, employees, and doctors who have made CDC what it is today. It has always been a collaborative effort, and it is the dedication of all of us—especially our families—that has allowed CDC to grow into such a special place. Thank you for the trust you placed in me and for allowing me to be part of so many children's lives. It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.
Although I will miss seeing everyone more than words can express, I know it is the right time to step aside. I do so with complete confidence because CDC has never been in a better position in the last 50 years to serve the children and families in our communities. Our extraordinarily skilled and compassionate pediatric dentists and orthodontists, supported by an unparalleled team of professionals, remain committed to providing the very best care and achieving the best possible outcomes for every child. I am immensely proud to have been part of this remarkable organization and am excited to see all that the future holds for CDC.
As for me, you will still see me around from time to time, as I'll continue to work a few days here and there. And if you happen to see me out and about, please don't hesitate to say hello. I'm not going anywhere—other than the occasional vacation—and I look forward to crossing paths with many of you in the years ahead.
