Meet Dr. Amy

I have been a pediatric dentist for more than ten years; not a day has gone by in which I have not been excited to come to work and enjoyed my time with my patients!

Every day I get to smile and laugh at silly stories the kids tell me, and be surprised at how brave they are and impressed by how hard they try. The sense of accomplishment I feel after helping an anxious child through that first appointment is nothing compared to look of pride on his or her own face!

I have never met a kiddo who didn’t make me smile. They are all unique and fun! I love my profession, as it offers the chance to see a whole spectrum of patients, from infants with feeding issues to children with anxiety or special needs, to teens with dynamic, fascinating interests.

Personally and professionally, I am an ardent supporter of each child as an individual. The best part of my job is getting to know every little one as a person and being part of their life as they grow into a wonderful young adult.

I am passionate about creating a warm, welcoming, and fun dental experience for ALL children, where they can be proud of their smile and how well they take care of it!

Education and Professional Activities

  • Bachelor of Science – University of Minnesota
  • Doctorate of Dental Surgery – University of Nebraska Medical Center
  • Certificate for specialization in pediatric dentistry – University of Nebraska
  • Master of Public Health – University of Nebraska Medical Center

I am convinced that the best care practices in pediatric dentistry change as fast as kids do. It is important to learn and acquire as much knowledge as constantly as possible, so I know I am providing patients the absolute best dentistry in terms of safety, longevity, and quality.

Every year I seek out a variety of continuing educational opportunities: attending meetings and lectures, and happily studying the latest research.

Membership in professional societies allows me to learn from the leading practitioners and researchers in pediatric and general dentistry. I am an active member of the:

  • American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
  • American Board of Pediatric Dentistry
  • American Dental Association
  • Minnesota Dental Association

Beyond the Office

After growing up in Duluth, and living in Nebraska while completing my dental and public health studies, I’ve settled in the metro area with my family.

My husband, Meysam, is a pediatric neurosurgeon at Children’s Hospital. We’ve been married for more than a decade and have four lovely and wild children. Our family is rounded out by our dog, GusGus, who mostly prefers to sleep.

My free time is spent (trying to!) keep up with my children and their many interests; we do make time so they can teach me new dance moves! I also love cross-country skiing and am an avid reader, when I can find a few quiet moments to indulge.

Giving Back

I have a master’s degree in public health and love teaching parents and kids about children’s oral health and maternal/child health, too. I am especially proud to have helped organize a group called 22q Connections Minnesota, which supports families affected by 22q deletion, also known as DiGeorge Syndrome.
