Comprehensive orthodontic treatment focuses on creating a healthy, well-aligned smile and bite once most or all of your child’s permanent teeth have erupted.
At Children’s Dental Care & Orthodontics, we monitor your child’s dental development and growth during their regular visits. When the time is right, our team will evaluate the position of the teeth, bite, jaw development, and available space to determine whether comprehensive orthodontic treatment would be beneficial.
Comprehensive orthodontics typically involves braces (or Invisalign) on the upper and lower teeth to straighten the smile, improve the bite, close or create appropriate spacing, and guide the teeth into their ideal positions. Treatment is individualized for every child based on their unique needs and development.
Some children may have completed early interceptive orthodontic treatment (Phase 1) before beginning comprehensive orthodontics. Early orthodontics is usually reserved for children who have unstable occlusion (or bite) or expansion needs. Other children may not need orthodontic treatment until their permanent teeth have erupted. Our goal is to recommend treatment at the right time for each individual child—there is no one-size-fits-all approach.

We’re able to consider not only tooth alignment, but also your child’s overall oral health as we plan and complete orthodontic treatment.
Once active treatment is complete, retainers are used to maintain the new tooth positions and help protect your child’s smile for years to come.
