It is our goal to provide quality dental care through educating and motivating children.  We are focused on making the dental experience a pleasant and positive one for the child and the parent. Every child deserves a happy and healthy smile!

About the Doctors

Children's Dental Care is geared to the general and special needs of infants, children, and adolescents.  This includes preventive treatment (sealants and athletic mouth guards), fillings and restorations focusing on esthetics and function, and early interceptive orthodontics and braces.  We meet the needs of special children who are fearful, mentally or physically challenged, and those who need extensive treatment.  In specific cases, we do complete treatment at a hospital setting.

Dr. George A. Hankerson

Dr. Hankerson is a 1968 graduate of the University of Minnesota Dental School.  He served in the U.S. Army in Okinawa, Japan as a captain from 1969 to 1972.  He did his pediatric dentistry specialty training at the University of Minnesota from 1972 to 1974, after which he remained a full time staff member until 1976.  Since then, Dr. Hankerson has been practicing as a Pediatric Dentist to help children achieve and maintain healthy smiles.

Dr. Hankerson has black belts in three different martial arts.  The first in Okinawan Karate in 1972, the latest in Tae Kwon Do in 1997. He avidly enjoys the great outdoors and playing volleyball.  On his days off, he can be found either at a camp site, biking, or hiking.  Dr. Hankerson actively participates in his church.  One of his passions is volunteering for Operation Smile in Venezuela and Viet Nam.  Operation Smile is an organization which helps children with cleft palate.

Dr. Brent Kvittem

Dr. Brent, as he is called by the children visiting the office, lives in Prior Lake with his wife, Lisa, and three daughters; Greta, Ava, and Ella.  Dr. Brent grew up in Eagan and graduated from Rosemount High School in 1986.  The following spring, he attended St. Olaf College.  When not studying or playing football, he enjoyed mentoring and helping local troubled middle schoolers with their problems.  In 1990, after graduating with a B.A. in biology, he continued his education at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.  Dr. Brent spent three rewarding months of his dental training in Nijmegen Holland participating in the clinical dental exchange program.

Once graduating from dental school in 1994, Dr. Brent knew pediatric dentistry was his future.  In 1997, he completed his residency in the division of pediatric dentistry at the University of Minnesota, with a master's degree in pediatric dentistry.  Dr. Brent's thesis on the "Incidence of Orofacial Injuries in High School Sports" was published in the Journal of Public Health Dentistry in the fall of 1998.

Dr. Brent has been working with Dr. Hankerson since 1997, and they have been partners since 1999.  He enjoys covering emergencies for the Minnesota State High School League, and assisting young at risk athletes with mouth guard use.

When not chasing or being chased by his daughters, Dr. Brent enjoys running, biking, and family time at the cabin.
